During the Summer & Fall of 2020, I was part of a group of people working to bring about the change of Shawnee Mission North's mascot - at the time, the "Indians". 5,000 postcards went out to neighbors in the school district, urging them to reach out to the school board and support the change.
In 2021, Shawnee Mission North changed their mascot to the "Bison," and they have great new branding and a wicked mascot costume to go with. I'm proud to have played a part in bringing about positive change in my community.
